About the Ingredients

The products offered here are going to cost a little more than some other brands for a couple reasons.

Fair Trade Ingredients

Fair Trade is a global trade model and certification allows you to identify products that were produced in an ethical manner. What does that mean? It means that the products are produced in an environmentally sustainable way and provide fair wages and safe working conditions for farmers and workers. These conditions in turn provide opportunities for local community improvements.

Palm Oil

Until it’s able to be certified Fair Trade so there’s accountability in production you won’t find palm oil or palm derived ingredients in the products offered here. Not only are the current methods of production terrible for the environment (deforestation, pollution from slash & burn for mono-culture), they contribute to habitat loss and displacement of indigenous species and people.

Fragrance

Fragrance oils are a more sustainable way to fragrance the products you’ll find here instead of something like essential oils. Fragrance oils use components isolated from essential oils. Instead of being subject to the variations of growing seasons, crop yields and varying safe usage levels the way essential oils are, fragrances are standardized meaning they’re more consistent in scent and safety. An added bonus is that the phthalate free fragrances used here are made in the U.S. so they have a smaller carbon footprint than an equivalent amount of essential oils.
